Buried lines are the hardest leaks to find by ear. Depth, wet clay, and rocky Ouachita ground all muffle the sound of escaping water, and a slow leak in a PVC or poly line may make almost no noise at all. Tracer gas gets around that. We isolate the line, pressurize it with a safe hydrogen/nitrogen mix, and walk the route with our Multi-Pro detector. Hydrogen works its way up through soil, gravel, driveways, and sidewalks, and where it reaches the surface is where the pipe has failed. We confirm with acoustic equipment, mark the ground, and dig only there.

Is the leak on my side or the city's?
In Hot Springs and the surrounding communities, the utility maintains the line up to and including the meter, and the property owner is responsible for everything from the meter to the house. A quick meter check tells us a lot: with every fixture off, if the meter's low-flow indicator is still turning, water is leaving your side of the system somewhere. From there we test whether the loss is in the house or the buried line, and if it is buried, we go find it.
